14 Year Old Calligraphy Artist Mythri Margam (Gorgeous Lettering!)

Mythri Margam of @creative_letteringart makes some amazing lettering pieces..and yes, she’s only 14! Her art is just going to get better and better from here, and it’s already pretty amazing. Here are some of her pretty detailed pieces. Love the depth and thought behind them.

Love her experimental aesthetics in sharing her lettering pieces. Here’s a quick observation.

1/ Holding up your paper against a natural background (sunlight is a must, ideally)

2/ Colored papers as an assorted background with some tiny cute stars sprinkled. Plus pens added on the side. And a little clip, because peg clips are always aesthetics. Laundry inspired aesthetic? Any cute items suffice if you don’t have a peg clip handy.

3/ A fabric inspired background like this weaving piece here also adds texture and character to the overall aesthetics of the photo. Add in a little swatch, some leaves, stationery (gold clip here) and some pens and there you have it!

4/ Pens placed very nicely on the edge of the page with the main art taking most of the space is pretty much always a win-win. Throw in a solid color background (here, she used two colors in a diagonal placement).

14 year olds got style and aesthetics! Definitely more than I had when I was 14!

It’s not only about the letters, Mythri also draws and paints beautifully!

And let’s appreciate all these concise pieces :

Also a #harrypotter fan, and you can see many references in her work!

She’s also made some harry pottered themed coloring sheets, find them on her site!

There are a lot of written names on her insta, and loving these namecards. Great art tip> create a subtle blend with contrasting shades (pink, yellow + teal, yellow) and topped off with a name in gold!

Plenty of #ipadlettering and #ipadillustration in her work. I love these simple and prominent pieces:

Love this irregular script!

Love this digital mandala she made! So pretty and distinctive.

More fun ipad lettering.

Her Etsy shop is stocked with cute lettered items like stickers, mugs, phone cases, pencil cases, wall prints and more. Check it out here.

These pet ornaments are amazingly cute!

This one is slightly not related to lettering but look at this Halloween DIY ! Skeleton flamingos? I absolutely adore how creative people bring out their creatives selves in their daily lives.

And, she’s a published author too!! Absolutely fantastic, and I know, they say never to judge a book by its cover, but that cover looks pretty darn fantastic! Definitely consider buying it if you’re a lettering enthusiast / learner / collector! Or just a fan of Amanda’s work!  Buy it here.

Let’s take pointers and inspiration from a multi talented and versatile creative calligrapher, Risha Lala. She makes creative videos of her calligraphy process on her instagram @rishalala. Head over there later and follow her, but meanwhile take a look below to see her beautiful work and maybe learn from tips from this amazing artist!

Very soft and bright use of colours! With added illustration and doodles here and there for a playful, whimsical effect.

I adore the subtle highlights, shadows and starry effects Risha adds in her work. She makes it look effortless when it’s really not that easy.

Ah, always fun to see the tape trick and Risha employs it in her calligraphy videos for a superb effect everytime- she combines with watercolor splashes, geometric shapes and leafy embellishes. Very pretty!

More use of the geometric shapes, fun accents and bright colors in a calligraphy piece. Fun!

Every calligrapher has to make a flower wreath and write a calligraphy quote inside. It’s a rite of passage. Nailed it here, Risha!

Superb doodle, very creative! Great combining of the visual aspect in the lettering.  See her insta for more examples of this work, love how creative it is!

One more superb tip to learn from- cutting out pieces of paper and adding them on to a main illustration piece for a 3d crafty look. Very nice for gifting and card making purposes.

Not only does she make whimsical art inspired pieces, she also can craft a graceful calligraphy letter! Love the classy ripped edges with gold and the flowers, beautiful and graceful.

And to end this feature, take a look at all these elaborate calligraphy pieces. She certainly knows how to make a superb piece for your gallery wall at home.

Friends reference win!

Superb calligraphy blending and classic comic inspired illustration piece.

The starry effect is pretty darn captivating, don’t you think?

Chapter 2: The Project

In Chapter 1, we left off at…

It took her 10 minutes to run all the way to college which was quite an achievement and she landed almost on a teachers lap. Professor Velasquez was a nice professor but he didn’t like anyone coming late to his class.

When she entered the class and so then the professor he looked at her in an annoyed way and he said “You are very fashionable but it’s not good to be fashionably late” she apologized and tried to go to the back of the class but the professor stopped her and told her to sit in the front and then she found herself sitting beside the boy she have never seen before. After she sat in the front, the professor continued the discussion.

During the discussion Alexandra is very confused on who is the boy sitting beside her. Minutes have passed , Professor Velazques announced that they will have a pair project together with their seat mate. Alexandra was shocked because she doesn’t know the boy beside her and also she wants to partner with her boyfriend at the back. But her boyfriend Xian is already partnered with her best friend Celine. So she doesn’t have a choice but to introduce herself to the boy and try to be friends with Him. Alexandra then tried to reach out her hand and said “Hi, Im Alexandra . What’s your name” the boy looked at her with those cold eyes and answered her ‘I’m Matthew” he doesn’t even smile he just answered with a blank expressions of his face.

Alexandra and Matthew partnered up in the project. They decided where to discuss the project and Matthew told her they can meet aftter class in the starbucks little did she know that matthew is the childhood bestfriend of Xian. Matthew is a new transfered boy, He was learning from London back then and he decided to go back to the Philippines.

When the bell rang, the students went out quickly from the classroom. Alexandra, Celine and xian together with Matthew meet outside the room. Alexandra is confused again why is Matthew together with them. Then she asks Xian who’s that boy and then Xian explain that Matthew is his childhood bestfriend, back then we’re there still a kid they were very close and they are also neighbor and their family is close. Celine interupted the conversatioon and toold alexandra “You should’nt be late again, you always miss stuffs”. Celine and Xian decided to go to the subway to make their project and Alexandra and matthew went to the starbucks.

Alexandra discuss their proojects but matthew is just being rude to him and deosn’t want to make the prject. He’s annoying celine more because celine was cute when getting annoyed. but he doesn’t tell it to her because obvioously its his bestfriend girlfriend. Alexandra decided that she’s just going to make their project by herself because she taught matthew doesn’t have knowledge about the project. He doesn’t know tthat matthew cames from the mostt bes school in London.Matthew is also one of the top students in his school in London. He just doesn’tt want to do it just to annoy Alexandra.

While on the way to the starbucks alexandra ask questions to Matthew on why did he transfer and just random questions. when they arrive to the starbucks they order their drinks, alexandra was about to pay it but matthew block her and he give his card to the cashier and told alexandra “I’ll pay” . and then they went to the table and waited for their orders . while waiting for the orders alexandra discuss about the project but matthew is just annoying her.

After they are done discussing they went home.
