Hi everyone! Today on the blog, we have Ureshii Chan sharing more about her art process. I really love the cute and happy elements in her work! Read on to know more..
Please tell me a little bit about yourself.
Hello, I’m an 18 year old girl who loves to draw. I am a student in my final year of school, with mainly studies about economics and business management. Unlike my studies, art has always been a way for me to relax. I love colors and patterns, and art in my opinion is a great way to express it ^^
I love your cute drawings! Do you plan themes/topics/characters or is the process more spontaneous?
Thank you so much, it makes me feel very happy ^o^
Sometimes I try to plan, but most often the process is spontaneous and the drawing usually changes while I draw.
How do you make your drawings?
To me sketching is a big part, when it comes to art I don’t focus on making all the proportions or anatomy correct – but I like to make a neat and complete sketch to easy fineline it.
Colors is my favorite thing. I try to add as much color I can, but still making it soft and pleasant to look at.
Whenever I draw a character I like giving them a smiling face, and of course lots of colors and cute details.
What are the art supplies you use most?
My ipad.
What was the hardest (and easiest) part while drawing?
Sometimes I can find it difficult to make the art look like the image I had in my head, my art usually doesn’t turn out as I first thought it would ^^;
To me to do lineart is the easiest.
What makes you the happiest in your creative process?
Everything makes me happy! ^o^
But to pick something specific, I feel very happy when I do the coloring because colors makes me happy.
Could you give us a glimpse in a typical day in your life?
My typical day I wake up fairly early, I’d have a cup of tea and if it’s good weather I go for a walk. I also enjoy spending time getting ready.
In school I have long breaks in my schedule, lucky the school is located close to malls and shopping areas so I spend a lot of time around shops, always looking for new inspiration for drawing (as well as searching for discount items ^^ ).
Back home I do those regular things like cleaning, laundry and preparing dinner.
During the evening the best thing I know is to relax with a cup of tea and spending time drawing. I tend to stay up way too late drawing because when I start drawing, it feels like time vanishes.
Where do you see yourself in a few years?
In a few years first of all I have graduated school, hopefully I have a job that I enjoy and I hope to have travelled and been able to visit many exciting places.
I see myself in an own apartment with a special area just for art and crafting time. In a few years I wish I have even more time for doing art ^^
Another dream is that in a few years I still will be surrounded by many friends, and maybe a family of my own.
What motivates /inspires you the most?
Clothes or fabric that has lots of colors and patterns inspire me a lot. I also get inspired by other artists, friends and people around me.
Can you list five things at the top of your head that interest you nowadays when it comes to art?
Lots of colors, flowers, glitter/sparkle, simple patterns and sceneries.
Just for fun: What is your favourite flower, animal and book/movie?
Sunflowers and hydrangeas, all animals, and This Book Will Make You Happy (by Jessamy Hibberd & Jo Usmar)
What do you do in your free time (when not working on your art)?
I love to listen to people’s stories and memories. To hear about people’s lives can be exciting and rewarding, there is always something you can learn. Some things I also love are baking and cooking, and hairstyling is another thing I like to spend time doing.
