Welcome to my book project! I am aiming to write a review for EVERY book that I own along with other fun reads along the way! Check back everyday for a mini book review- or a detailed one! If you’re searching for a good book to read, maybe this is the place for you! I shall be recommending my favourites and more! Read on…
Book Name: The Undomestic Goddess
Author: Sophie Kinsella
Let me summarize it for you:
Samantha is a very busy, highly stressed lawyer who works..all the time.. Due to a turn of events, she finds herself running away from that life…to a new life of pretending to be a housekeeper! This book is just a fun lighthearted read on the choices we can make in our life. Also, interesting to see how Samantha’s story unfolds.
The language is very straightforward and it’s a really relaxing read!
What I thought about this book:
I absolutely LOVE it! The funny thing was, I actually read this book in a Reader’s Digest compilation and it was the first Sophie Kinsella novel I read. After that, I became a total fan of Sophie’s work- just because of this particular book!
This book really resonated with me on so many levels. Stuff Samantha and I have in common:
1/ high pressure from family and friends to do ‘well’ in life- high flying career goals, busy lifestyle
2/ No cooking skills at all (but she inspired me! If Sam can do it, so can I..possibly?!)
3/ Like Samantha tries something new, I also did change my career into art and I’m very happy about it! Was it easy? No, but satisfying? Yes! I’m sure Samantha would agree with me.
4/ Cute guys! Always on the lookout, hehe..
5/ Finding freedom? You have to read the book to know exactly how Samantha’s story played out!
Here are some ‘sneak peeks’ to get a feel of the writing….
